MISSION STATEMENT:
To counter the effects of violence in our communities by turning fear, anger, and hate into acceptance and hope, by bridging endless possibilities through the creative process.

FOUNDED IN THE CAN-DO SPIRIT:
In 1996 by artist Robert J. Miley and many
community leaders.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS:
Centers on resolving conflict through education and the power of art. Adults and children invest time to create an empathetic learning environment to raise awareness of their own attitudes.

This awakening of self awareness enables children and adults alike to learn to express themselves and creatively cope with the challenges in their lives. The educational curriculum workshops are ongoing, meeting many Arizona State educational standards by utilizing various disciplines such as writing, interactive play, sensory exercises as well as painting/drawing as tangible context and as an inquiry tool. By integrating Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences, we can see how art is the bridge that allows us to pass through fear by giving us a means to explore and express the endless possibilities of who and where we are.

SCULPTURAL SYMBOL:
Envision a sculpture in the middle of Central Avenue, more than twenty-four feet tall, made from four tons of melted down weapons: hand guns, shotguns, Saturday night specials, knives, etc., all used in the perpetration of terrible crimes against our fellow human beings. This sculpture depicts actual weapons at its base, and as it rises upward, like the Phoenix from the ashes, the weapons fuse into a powerful human symbol soaring toward the heavens. It does create a stunning visual awareness that hate, fear and violence can be changed. It will serve as a tangible reminder that everything is possible in life through our own will. Fundraising for the sculptural symbol is ongoing because once the Phoenix, Arizona, sculpture has been erected, others will follow bringing the message to all parts of our world.
